Every now and again you need to go back and read a Trollope book or two. They are unexcelled for sharp amusement, intrigue, and just straight enjoyment, and inside the books you find things, such as New Zealand and kauri gum. George Thomas Staunton was particularly famous for two things, One was as a 12 year old lad on Lord Macartney’s
